PGECET

Well, This article details about the admission into M.E, M.Tech, M.Arch, M.Pharm courses in Andhra Pradesh. Post Graduation Engineering Common Entrance Test (PGECET) is the way if you have scored low or disqualified in GATE exam.

PGECET every year is organised by Osmania Univeraity. Notification will be released in the month of march every year and exam is conducted in may/june of every year.

  • The vacant seats after admitting GATE/GPAT qualified candidates will be filled with the candidates based on the Rank/percentile score secured in the PGECET Entrance Test.
  • Counselling for GATE/PGECET will be conducted at the same time. Separate notification will be issued for admission for GATE/GPAT Qualified candidates.
      For Complete Information, Click here:

                                                             www.appgecet.org/

EXAM PATTERN:

  • Exam duration will be 2hours.
  • Question paper will completely in english
  • Question paper consists of around 120 question and they are completely MCQ'S.
  • There is NO NEGATIVE MARKING for wrong answers
  • To qualify, Candidates should score 25% of whole marks. (Not applicable for SC/ST).

ADMISSIONS:

PGECET paper is comparatively easier than GATE exam. minimum knowledge on the subject in enough to qualify in the exam but if you really want to get into UNIVERSITIES then you have to score very well. Usually, Rank below 100 will fetch you universities. For this you have to get marks >60. The vacant seats after admitting GATE/GPAT qualified candidates will be filled with the candidates based on the Rank/percentile score secured in the PGECET entrance Test. Universities accepting PGECET score/rank for admission in the state of Andhra Pradesh were given below:

  • OSMANIA UNIVERSITY (O.U)
  • JAWAHARLAL NEHRU TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY-HYDERABAD (JNTU-H)
  • JAWAHARLAL NEHRU TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY-KAKINADA (JNTU-K)
  • JAWAHARLAL NEHRU TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY-ANANTAPUR (JNTU-A)
  • ANDHRA UNIVERSITY
  • ACHARYA NAGARJUNA UNIVERSITY (ANU)
  • SRI VENKATESWARA UNIVERSITY (SVU)

According to me, Top colleges in Andhra Pradesh are:

  • OSMANIA UNIVERISTY(O.U)
  • JAWAHARLAL NEHRU TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY-HYDERABAD (JNTU-H)
  • ANDHRA UNIVERSITY(A.U)
  • JAWAHARLAL NEHRU TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY-KAKINADA (JNTU-K)
  • SRI VENKATESWARA UNIVERSITY
  • GAYATRI COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING
  • JAWAHARLAL NEHRU TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY-ANANTAPUR (JNTU-A)
  • V R SIDDHARTHA COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING
  • CHAITANYA BHARATHI INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY(CBIT)
  • MAHATMA GANDHI INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY(MGIT)

Frankly speaking one should not expect much for placement from these colleges. My words were not implied to zero placements. Because of the fact in India that B.Tech students are preferred over M.Tech, placements for PG students were bit low. Talented persons can shine any where. If your career ambition is teaching or research then prefer University. University tag line is itself helpful for teaching jobs and research and many of our universities were good in teaching, faculty, infrastructure. To get into univerisities like OU, AU, JNTU-H, JNTU-A, JNTU-K, SVU one should get

                                                          RANK<100 (OC)
                                                          RANK<150(OBC)
                                                          RANK<600(SC/ST)

NOTE: PGECET admissions also depends upon the Universities Regions (AU, OU, SVU)

    1. Hi Nanda, Highlight branches like cse, ece, mech, eee have same cutoffs as I mentioned above because your chances into those universities depends upon number of gate candidates admitted. Usually you get chance if you have rank
      RANK<100 (OC)
      RANK<150(OBC)
      RANK<600(SC/ST)

      Delete
    2. Above cutoffs are for universities like AU, OU, JNTU-H, JNTU-K, JNTU-A.
If you want admission in gayatri, CBIT, MGIT, VR Siddhartha and few other good colleges. Then
      OC<300
      OBC<800
      SC/ST<3000

    ReplyDelete

    1. Hi,No question in this world is silly :) If you get a job worth leaving the MTECH then go for it, but it will cost you 2years of mtech fee because college people will have your certificates for these two years and u want to leave the college some colleges demands u to pay full fee.

  7. hi yeswanth sai u had done a good job with this blog, actually i observed that in most of the mtech colleges there are no commencement of classes and we have to attend for examinations only. is it a legal or not? is there any problem of pursuing mtech in those colleges? can u give me clarity. i think most of the students dont have an idea about this, so i think ur answer is more benefitable to students since it is admissions season ..... ur's dinesh

    1. Hi Dinesh, Listen, First of all if u r joining to learn or for placement then DON'T opt those colleges. Yes u r very correct about what u have said, Most of the college are like that but please don't opt them. If you do then what is the use of doing m.tech?? If you get good College means u will get good placements and if go to teaching career then college brand will be useful, But if you joined in the colleges u said your chances of getting good life is doomed :) :)

  8. hi yeswanth sai gaaru i have a doubt, is there any rule to omit some of the mtech / ME seats for pgecet students or there a chance of institute to recruit all the seats to gate qualified students only......? if there reserved seats for pgecet then how many......?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Not exactly, There is no rule that this many seats are reserved for pgecet students, Preference will be given to gate qualified students. If any seats are left over then pgecet students were given admission. :)

  9. Mr. yeswanth sai first of all, i have to appreciate ur blog as so many students have fears and some lack of knowledge about pg studies, i had observed there is no publicity for the pgecet exam and its counseling like eamcet or icet or ecet, there is also no mock counseling, doubt clarifying blogs for this exam, i had observed that most of the pgecet attempters can't even know the model paper of the exam. so please update some more valuable info for pgecet students like availability of different courses in different colleges, scholarships to pgecet students, last rank cutoffs with some of ur valuable suggestions.. please do this favour for us as there is no any information that is useful to students even in the pgecet official home page... so please.....

  10. hi sir, i came to know that there will be no management quota in universities but why only 13 seats are set for counselling??? what about remaining seats???? can u clarify me that how these seats filled??? plz explain in detail about how many seats for a college/university how they filled? and how much reservation for each category??? plz reply with out giving linksites for the sake of public

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Reservation may vary. 1st of all there is no separate counselling for pgecet n gate qualified students. Counselling will be conducted all together and preference will be given to gate qualified students then pgecet qualified students. Who said there are only 13 seats in the universities?? Which branch and which university you are talking about?? As per the management quota seats question, the term is not management quota. It is Sponsored seats and these are given based on academics, experience and some times MP's and MLA's recommendations. Based on the Universities these things varies.

    1. Hi Venkat, You got a good rank and with your reservation I think you can get seat in University. Yes you are right about those courses but please don't join in those courses. You may get seat easily in those courses and you may think about university tag and join, later you will suffer for sure. My suggestion is to choose the branch that you are interested and choose good college by verifying infrastructure and faculty. :) :) All the best

    1. When compared to B.tech there very less placements in M.tech, If you are CSE then A.U and JNT-K have 20%-30% placements and JNTU-H and OSMANIA, Gayatri have 50% of placements. Forget about the M.Tech placement for other branches like EEE, CIVIL and MECH
